There is more good news for Forfar Athletic fans as they look forward to Saturday’s big game with the announcement that prior to training tonight Ross Meechan put pen to paper on a two-year extension to his contract.
The 24-year-old defender, therefore, becomes the eleventh player in the current squad to commit his future to the ‘Loons’, Ross, however, the first to have agreed on a deal until the summer of 2021.
Glasgow based, Ross had stints on the books of Hearts, Motherwell, St. Mirren and Partick Thistle as a youngster before a four-year spell with Stenhousemuir.
He moved to Station Park just under a year ago and has been a regular in the Athies line-up throughout the campaign, endearing himself to the supporters with his one hundred per cent commitment week on week.
This now means that out with the loan players, only five of the current first team squad will be out of contract next month, talks continuing at pace with a few about their future intentions, with offers on the table or possibly in the pipeline.
Some will almost inevitably move on and of course, Eddie Malone has confirmed that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Lowland League outfit East Stirlingshire and will leave at the end of the campaign with the best wishes of all.
Watch this space for further developments.
