Match Day Programme

Forfar Athletic Directors have somewhat reluctantly taken the decision to join an ever-growing list of SPFL clubs which even included last season one from the Premiership in deciding not to publish a match programme in the season ahead.
There are three main reasons behind the decision made by ‘Loons’ officials
- Poor sales which have fallen in recent times year on year to a now unacceptable level. Many clubs experience a similar problem.
- Lack of volunteer contributors despite strenuous appeals over recent seasons, meaning a struggle for a meaningful copy.
- The advancement of websites, social media outlets etc which now mean that the vast majority of supporters are kept abreast of club news/affairs on a daily basis.
Forfar Athletic were one of the last of the old SFL clubs to introduce a regular match day programme, the first for a league game at the commencement of the 1975/6 season with current Club Secretary David McGregor as Editor in chief.
Since then around 950 editions have come off the printing presses and it is slight disappointment that at present we will not continue to the 1,000 mark.
The Station Park board would like to put on record their thanks all who have contributed in any way to the production of the programme over the years, as well as the many companies both local and national who have provided supportive advertising revenue.
A special word to Dave Barber who has collated and edited the programme over the past two seasons.
Apologies to those who will be disappointed with this news but you never know, it may be reversed at some time in the future and it is certainly not a decision that in years to come is as they say ‘cast in stone.’
