Stuart Malcolm returns to Station Park as Manager
[Sunday, 10 November 2019 19:00]
Forfar Athletic officials are delighted tonight to announce the return to the club as their new manager of former player and club captain Stuart Malcolm.
Stuart now 40 years of age had three spells with the ‘Loons’ as a central defender when his no-nonsense style of play made him a firm fans favourite.
During those spells he made 93 starting appearances for the Athies with a further four from the bench, netting six goals.
Stuart whose senior playing career began in 1998 at St. Johnstone went on to serve thirteen clubs in Scotland, England and Ireland in a near twenty-year playing career, before hanging up his boots and moving into coaching firstly as Assistant Manager at Albion Rovers, then in a similar position at Lowland League East Kilbride, prior to taking over the reins of the Lanarkshire outfit just over a year ago.
He subsequently led them to the league title in April of this year.
Stuart who will confirm his backroom team in the next few days will meet the players for the first time at training on Monday evening.
The Directors at Station Park would like to put on record their thanks to all at East Kilbride FC for their co-operation in regard to the smooth facilitation of the appointment.
They would also like to record their thanks to Barry Smith for looking after playing matters at the club over the past week following Jim Weir’s resignation.
