The club would apologise to any supporter who was inconvenienced by the 5 pm postponement of·tonight’s match.
Club officials had closely monitored the situation all afternoon as the gales got worse.· However it was felt at around 3.30 pm that the wind was no worse than a couple of weeks back when the Stranraer match was given the go ahead.·· However by 4.45 pm conditions had deteriorated to such an extent ·that locally based referee Gavin Harris, who was due to be one of the Assistants at the match, was called in and after testing the overhead conditions thoroughly, he quite rightly called the game off.·· In fact by 6 pm heavy rain and sleet which had arrived on the scene as he carried out his inspection also saw surface water appear on parts of the playing area.
The fixture is now likely to be put on the back burner till mid February.
One can only hope that this is not the start of a prolonged period of postponements similar to what the club had to suffer last term.
