Scotland Schoolboys Under 18's v Wales

Forfar Athletic will host their first ever representative game involving a Scottish side on Thursday night when the Scottish Schoolboys Under 18 side take on Wales at Station Park with a 7p.m. kick off in what is for both sides their second outing in this season’s Centenary Shield competition.

Both countries recorded impressive victories in their opening encounters.   The Scottish youngsters defeated Northern Ireland 4-0 in Glasgow with Lawrence Shankland and Kieran Anderson-Ballantyne netting braces, while Wales had a 1-0 victory over their English counterparts at Haverfordwest.

The Scotland players will be keen to keep up the momentum and impress the selectors as following an away trip to face Eire, they then take on the English Schools in their final fixture at Newcastle United’s St. James Park, recently re-named the Sports Direct Arena.

For ‘Loons’ officials it is a second chance to stage a game in the Centenary Shield after frost ruled out a match with Northern Ireland two years back, the game being switched at 48 hours notice to Links Park in Montrose.

Both the Schools FA and Forfar officials are hopeful that the local football supporting public will turnout in reasonable numbers for the game.
