Forfar Athletic v Albion Rovers
[Friday, 27 April 2012 10:28]
The ‘Loons’ will go head to head tomorrow at Station Park battling for a vital three points against Paul Martin’s in form side in probably their most important fixture to date his campaign.
Dick Campbell’s men require, as matters stand at present, three points against both Rovers and from next Saturday’s trip to Stenhousemuir to ensure their Second Division status for another term.
Anything less and the prospect of the play-offs at the wrong end of the table looms with Elgin City the likely semi final opponents. There is however a worse case scenario if Forfar were to lose both remaining games and Stirling were to win their last two at home to Dumbarton and away to Albion Rovers.
As luck would have it or otherwise the home side will in all probability go into the game with a handful of players unavailable through injury. Steven Tulloch, David Mowat and Martin Fotheringham are definitely ruled out with a few others having spent both training nights this week exclusively on the treatment table.
Forfar will also go into the game having failed to record a victory over Rovers this season. The early season fixture at Cliftonhill was won by the home side’s solitary goal, prior to Albion securing a 2-0 win at Station Park in October. Then in late February in Lanarkshire, despite taking the lead twice, Dick Campbell’s men had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Home fans however can rest assured that whatever eleven players take to the field at 2.55p.m.tomorrow they will be up for the fight and hopefully the players can rely on exceptional vocal backing from the terraces.
The match will be handled by veteran official David Somers making his first visit of the season to the ‘toonie’.
