Update on 3G pitch
[Monday, 30 April 2012 15:59]
As you are all aware, Forfar Athletic and Forfar Farmington were awarded a grant from “Cash from Criminals” of £300,000 towards the installation of an weather 3G Pitch. A committee of representatives from both Clubs was formed to discuss the implications of this award. After some discussion it was decided that the facility would be better placed at Station Park rather than on the Marketmuir site.
Four companies, all of which have had experience of laying this type of pitch were asked to quote. After extensive negotiations it was decided to award the contract to Hunter Construction Ltd., who are based at Inverurie. Initially, Delson Contracts will assist the project by removing the grass and topsoil to allow the major drainage and foundations to proceed. The final layer of the foundations will be a “shockpad” application which not only gives a more realistic feeling for play but also assists in extending the life of the synthetic surface. The playing surface itself will be a top of the range Fieldturf 60mm 3G sand/rubber filled sports carpet which is called “Revolution 60”.
A starting date has not yet been finalised due to our current uncertainty over our final league position, however we are in contact with the Contractor who is ready to commence as soon as we give him the go ahead. It is estimated that the project will take eight to ten weeks to complete.
Updates will be placed on the website and Facebook on the progress over the installation period.
