A Message From The Chairman
[Friday, 18 May 2012 14:10]
Firstly I must say what a privilege it is to be asked to be the Chairman of Forfar Athletic Football Club. It is a responsibility that I take very seriously and I am aware of the expectations of our supporters.
I must also pay thanks to the retiring Chairman Neill Wilson who has done a sterling job not only over the last five years as Chairman but also the past sixteen years in which he has served on the board.
It goes without saying that the major issues we face are not new ones but the time old problem of finance and making ends meet. Scottish Football is in the grip of a financial problem and the board are committed to putting the best team we can afford
on the pitch but not to the detriment to the long term stability of our club.
The new 3G pitch has been well documented over the past few months and whilst in an ideal world we would all like to play on the traditional grass surface I feel the long term benefits will out weigh this. The winters have not been kind to us recently and we have suffered badly to a significant financial loss of revenue from match day hospitality
Please be assured that Dick and his back room team are working hard to improve our squad and he is confident that he will strengthen wisely. There is no doubt that next season will be a tough league but we are all up for the challenge.
Lastly I would like to acknowledge the army of volunteers who make this club tick, quite simply we would not exist without them, if you feel you want to get more involved with your club please get in touch. Forfar should be proud of its football club - so let's get behind the team!
