SPORTSMAN’S DINNER 2025
[Thursday, 08 May 2025 21:41]

Forfar Athletic are delighted to announce that we will once again be holding our annual Sportsman’s Dinner at ‘home’ in the Reid Hall in Forfar. As previously advised, the date of this year’s dinner is Friday 20 June 2025 – arrive at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
This will be our 28th year of the event. It has been such a successful and popular event on the Loons’ calendar, and a very successful fundraiser for the Club. This is thanks to the many people who have supported the event over the years.
The entertainment line up for the night will be:
TAM COWAN – The hottest ticket in Forfar earlier this year, you could not get into the 1984 Lounge for love or money to see Tam for our Forfar Fighting Fund event. On that subject, apparently Tam is still waiting for his bag of bridies from Jim Weir!! Tam has turned his after dinner speaking and Scottish football comedy act into a fine art, and we can’t wait to welcome him back to Forfar again. Luckily the Reid Hall holds far more people than the 1984 Lounge does, and so those disappointed last time around will definitely have a chance to hear Tam now!
IAIN GORDON – Iain describes himself as a “highly accomplished after dinner speaker” so certainly no pressure on him! Iain was a Senior Police Officer with Strathclyde Police and has been delivering after dinner speeches since 1990. A speaker not to be missed, we are no doubt in for a real treat hearing all of Iain’s tales.
WILLIE ALLAN – Described by The Herald as “Undoubtedly the best after dinner speaker in Scotland”, Willie has been on the after dinner speaking circuit since 1992 and describes his style as a “disruption of expectation”. Following a background in both sport and education, his reputation as a speaker, chair and auctioneer has been forged in a variety of venues from local clubs to the top hotels and conference centres in the country.
Tickets for this year’s dinner are priced at £70 per person. Individual tickets are available and you can also purchase a full table of ten for £700. Loons officials certainly hope that this still represents good value for money in the current climate. The price includes a two course meal followed by a selection of cheese and biscuits with tea and coffee. We are delighted that Greg of Silva Service Catering will again be catering for the event, a huge hit at Station Park in his first season taking care of our hospitality guests.
Tickets can be booked now by contacting Alan Shepherd by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by phone on 07803208502. Alternatively you can contact any FAFC Director.
Lastly, and as always, we rely so heavily on our auction and raffle to raise funds for the Club at the Sportsman’s Dinner. If you are able to contribute prizes for these, whether large or small, please do not hesitate to reach out to any FAFC Director – we would be so grateful for any contribution that you can make.
