SCOTT HANDS OVER TO ALAN
[Thursday, 29 May 2025 13:40]

Forfar Athletic wish to announce that, following last night’s AGM, Scott Murdie confirmed his decision to step down from his role as Chairman of the Club after five years in the position. Scott will remain as a Director of the Club, to the delight of his fellow Board members.
Alan Shepherd has agreed to take over the reins and will assume the role of Chairman with immediate effect. Alan has served as a Director at the Club for 15 years and is delighted to take on this new responsibility.
Paul Stephen will continue in his role as Vice Chairman to support and work with Alan moving forward.
“It has been an honour to serve as Chairman of Forfar Athletic over the past five years. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my partner, Lesley, who has been a power of support to me throughout my time in the role. I am also extremely grateful to Forfar Athletic’s supporters and sponsors, and to all of my fellow Directors, past and present, for their help, guidance and commitment over the years. I also wish to thank our players, past and present. It has certainly been a challenging period for the Club, but I believe that we are in a great position to rebuild and to come back stronger now.
“I have full confidence in Alan Shepherd as the new Chairman and in the current Board. Their experience and dedication give me great hope for the future. I also have every belief that Jim Weir and Gavin Price are the right management team to take the club forward. With everyone working together, I’m optimistic that Forfar Athletic is on the road to better times.”

“Scott has done an incredible job as Chairman, possibly during the toughest five years the Club has known — through the Covid lockdown and the financial difficulties that followed. I would like to extend my thanks for the hard work and time he has given to the role, and I’m pleased he will remain on the Board as a Director.
“I’m honoured to take on this position and hope to continue helping the Club progress, both on and off the pitch. Having been involved for many years before becoming a Director, I understand the small but crucial jobs that need doing — not just on matchdays — and how important they are to the running of Forfar Athletic and many clubs like ours.
“I truly believe times are changing at Forfar Athletic, and our aim as a Board is to build on the improvements already made. With the help and support of the many people involved at the Club, I believe we can achieve that.
“However, it’s the die-hard supporters who deserve the greatest credit. I’m fully aware of how frustrating things can be at times, but in Jim and Gavin, I believe we have the right people to bring back better days — and I will do my best, alongside the rest of the Board, to reset and rebuild for the future.”
