Ramsdens Cup First Round Draw

The draw for the first round of the Ramsdens Cup will take place at the Falkirk Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

This season both the first and second round draws will be split into north and south sections.   In previous year’s only the first round was regionalised.   The change follows a substantial majority vote in favour at the SFL agm last month.

As was the case last season two Highland League clubs have been invited to participate to bring the entry up to an even 32, meaning no first round byes. However it was agreed that the two club’s concerned as from this season would require to be on at the very least the ‘first rung’ of the SFA Licence Criteria.

No club in the HFL top six meets this requirement at present, so the two participating clubs in the season ahead are Inverurie Loco Works and Wick Academy.

Certainly a trip to Wick on July 28th would be an early season expense most clubs have not budgeted for!
