CLUB STATEMENT
[Wednesday, 16 July 2025 15:05]

Forfar Athletic officials are very disappointed that we have to make this statement.
At last nights Premier Sports Cup match with St Mirren, pyrotechnics were lit and a young fan was injured when he was hit after a pyrotechnic was thrown.
This behaviour is not only irresponsible and dangerous but also illegal and has no place in football and certainly not at Forfar Athletic.
The club could end up being fined and banned as a result of these actions. CCTV footage is being reviewed and those responsible, not only for the throwing but the lighting of pyrotechnics, will be identified and banned from attending future matches at Forfar Athletic and possibly other SFA member grounds. All evidence gathered will be handed over to the police.
The most upsetting factor in all of this is it is young home supporters who were responsible. We are actively trying to encourage younger fans to attend games, only for incidents and behaviour like this to occur and force us to take action to ensure the safety of all other supporters.
The club often gets criticised for the stewarding of these young fans, but if as a result of their behaviour a child or family member of yours is hurt, then it creates a different perspective of why such methods are necessary.
We hope the young supporter recovers quickly and feels confident enough to continue attending matches.
Forfar Athletic sincerely hope that there will be no more incidents like last night or it will lead to a change in our policy for admission to games for certain age groups.
Thank you to all who attended for your support and we look forward to the next game.
