Forfar Athletic v Hibernian ‘B’ – Match Preview

The ‘Loons’ begin their six game group stage phase of the KDM Evolution Trophy at the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park on Tuesday evening when Hibernian ‘B’ are the opponents.
With three games against ‘B’ sides and three others against League1 opponents it will be an intriguing set of fixtures that lie ahead for Jim Weir and his squad as the revamped competition moves forward. The games against the Hibernian, Dundee and Aberdeen youngsters almost a step into the unknown in particular.
Jim is certain to obviously wish to rotate his own squad to give players valuable competitive game time, but rest assured qualification for the round of 32 scheduled for early December is of paramount importance to the club in financial terms alone. Therefore it is tournament that the ‘Loons’ will be treating with respect to make sure we are not one of the eight sides eliminated at the first stage.
Back to tomorrow night’s fixture and the home management team are likely to hand a place in the starting line up to most if not all of the seven substitutes listed on Saturday past, while Chris Scott an absentee against Clyde returns to the match day squad. Lewis Martin is ruled out of the opening two games in the group stage due to a suspension carried over from last season.
The Hibernian side is likely to be drawn in the main from their Under 19 team which participates in the SFA Under 19 Elite League system. The youngsters are under the guidance of Easter Road Academy Manager former ‘Hibee’ defender Gareth Evans and Under 19 team coach another former Hibs defender of more recent vintage Darren McGregor. The side have won both their opening league fixtures the latest a 2-1 success at Motherwell on Friday past, both their goals scored by Jamie McMurdo.
Hopefully an entertaining ninety minutes is in store on Tuesday evening.

Reduced admission charges will be levied for the tie which has the usual 7.45pm. kick-off.
Adults admission will be £10 for both the Stand and Terracing with Concession prices for those aged 12-17 and 65 & over pegged at £5.
The cost for Under 12 admission on the night will be a nominal £1.

Forfar Athletic season tickets are of course not valid for this fixture.
The 1984 Lounge will not be open at Tuesday night’s match. However the Refreshment Kiosk and Club Shop within the ground will be open as normal.
