September Fixtures – ‘Home Sweet Home’ for the ‘Loons’
[Monday, 01 September 2025 16:09]
Following on a month where like all other clubs in tiers three and four of the SPFL, Forfar Athletic played seven competitive games culminating in a traumatic and disappointing afternoon in the rain at East Kilbride on Saturday past, a less taxing month lies ahead for Stuart Morrison and his colleagues. A quintet of games are on the horizon for the month of September, three in the William Hill League2 and two in the KDM Evolution Trophy, thankfully four of those games on home ‘soil.’
This coming Saturday brings with it a break from league match action, Dundee ‘B’ the visitors to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park on match day three of the KDM Evolution Trophy, the kick-off at the normal time of 3pm.
That is then followed by two successive home fixtures in the William Hill League2. On Saturday the 13th, a resurgent Dumbarton side are the opponents, while seven days later it is Annan Athletic whom we have already crossed ‘swords’ with in the Premier Sports Cup this campaign who are due in town. A fourth home game on the trot comes along on Tuesday the 23rd of the month when we return to action in the KDM Trophy, Aberdeen’s youngsters providing the opposition on this occasion.
The final fixture of September sees the ‘Loons’ head for the Capital City for the second time this season, Meadowbank Stadium the destination on this occasion, Edinburgh City our hosts for what will be our eighth league game of an already busy season. On that subject it is interesting to note that at the beginning of a week when our pool numbers look likely to be stretched a little, the Athies have already played an almost remarkable fifteen fixtures over the course of the past nine weeks or so! That list comprises five league fixtures, four in the Premier Sports Cup, two in the KDM tournament and four pre-season friendly fixtures.
A reminder of our September programme;-
Saturday September 6th - Dundee ‘B’ - home
Saturday September 13th - Dumbarton - home
Saturday September 20th - Annan Athletic - home
Tuesday September 23rd - Aberdeen ‘B’ - home
Saturday September 27th - Edinburgh City – away
Footnote;-
By the conclusion of the current month, we will also know our opponents in the second round of the Scottish Gas sponsored Scottish Cup, ties due to be played on October 25th. The second round draw is likely to take place over the final weekend of September, thirty first round proper ties having been drawn last night and due to be played over that particular weekend.
Five Tayside clubs will be in first round action, in fact one of the ties of the round due at Thomson Park where Lochee United will play host to Brechin City. Dundee North End head to Grantown on Spey to meet Strathspey Thistle, Jeanfield Swifts host Sauchie, while Tayport will make the lengthy trip to meet East of Scotland League outfit Coldstream.
