Edinburgh City v Forfar Athletic – Match Information
[Wednesday, 24 September 2025 22:02]

Goals from Stuart Morrison and Kieran Inglis clinched a 2-1 victory for the ‘Loons’ last night against Aberdeen ‘B’ in a hard fought fourth group phase fixture in the KDM Evolution Trophy.
The visiting side were without doubt the strongest on paper of the three ‘B’ sides we have faced. The ‘Dons’ utilised the option on the night of fielding three over age players (i.e. over 21), listing Scottish international defender Nicky Devlin, Latvia’s skipper Kristers Tobers and Serbian striker Marko Lazetic whom they signed from AC Milan recently in their starting line-up.
However yet again the fixture proved a more than useful ninety minutes for Jim Weir’s side in front of a home support of 254, latest signing Harry McLinden making his debut off the bench with thirty minutes remaining.
The victory also secured a place in the knock out stage of the competition, the round of 32, due to be played in early December with two group stage fixtures still to be completed. The Athies players will not however be taking their ‘foot of the pedal’ in the remaining two fixtures against League1 opponents Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Cove Rangers with various seeding positions up for grabs, dependant naturally on final league positions.
At present the ‘Loons’ sit importantly in sixth position in the thirty club table on the nine point mark.
Caley Thistle who are the visitors to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park on Saturday the 11th of October on match day five sit top of the table, on goal difference, Scott Kellaher’s side one of three teams with the full twelve points following last night’s fixtures, Stenhousemuir and Montrose the others. Edinburgh City could join them tonight if they record a win at Meadowbank against Celtic ‘B’.
The bottom eight spots in the table which bring with it elimination are following Annan’s odd goal in seven win over Rangers ‘B’ last night now all occupied by Premiership Under 21 sides, the exceptions in fact Celtic and St. Mirren both of whom are in action tonight, the young ‘Buddies’ due to visit Hamilton Accies.

Adult admission will be £12, concessions £6, under 12’s at £1 if accompanied by an adult. Further detail on pre-match tickets sales later, though of course cash payment only turnstiles will also be available on the day.
