The William Hill Scottish Cup Fourth Round
[Monday, 12 November 2012 09:57]
Following the ‘Loons’ 3-2 cup replay win at Nairn County on Saturday past, Dick Campbell’s men will now play host to fellow Second Division outfit Ayr United in the fourth round of the tournament on Saturday December 1st. It would, amazingly from the records, appear to be the first time that the paths of the clubs will have crossed in the national tournament, a remarkable statistic.
Ayr did win a Challenge Cup tie at Station Park some six years back while many of the Station Park faithful will never forget an epic two legged last sixteen tie in the League Cup between the sides in the autumn of 1977. In that match the Station Park men under Archie Knox’s stewardship clinched a quarter final berth over the two games against an Ayr side who were at the time in Scottish football’s top tier.
Ayr have had a great cup pedigree in recent seasons, but it will still nevertheless be a an excellent opportunity for the Forfar players to progress to a last sixteen spot in the New Year.
There are likely to be one or two hospitality packages available for the tie and any interested party should get in touch with David McGregor on 07871 165689 or e mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
