Forfar Athletic v Queen of the South - Match Preview
[Monday, 19 November 2012 10:58]
Just over 72 hours after completing a highly entertaining win over Stenhousemuir Dick Campbell’s side are back in Station Park league action with a visit from unbeaten league leaders Queen of the South.
The ‘Doonhamers’ are of course the only full-time team in the league but nevertheless no one can question that Alan Johnstone’s outfit have had a superb first quarter of the season. Their league form has in fact been supplemented by a Leag
ue Cup win over Hibernian and a Challenge Cup success at Ibrox on their way to reaching the final in which they will meet Partick in the spring.
Nicky C
lark, son of Assistant Manager Sandy, and Derek Lyle will be the men that the home defence will have to be at their best to cope with but as was proved yet again on Saturday past the ‘Loons’ also possess a potent threat going forward.
The three players namely keeper Derek Soutar, Steven Tulloch and Danny Denholm who all failed late fitness checks on Saturday remain in the doubtful bracket for the Station Park men, but thankfully no fresh knocks were picked up against the ‘Warriors.’
Despite the midweek slot, Forfar officials are fervently hoping for a reasonable turn out for the game which will be refereed by second season Grade One official Greg Aitken from Ayrshire who is making his second visit of the season to Station Park.
A reminder that the game has a 7.30 pm kick off.
