Of The Loons
The benefit of the 3G pitch at Station Park this season was evident again last night when a team comprising of Martyn Fotheringham and Ross Campbell from Saturday’s starting line up, fringe players and a few of the Under 19 squad were able to participate in a closed doors friendly against Forfar West End. The match was played in excellent underfoot conditions despite the current wintry weather.
Even Jamie Bishop got 90 minutes under his belt as he prepared for a match at Ibrox on Saturday in Stirling Albion’s colours where of course he is currently on loan.
Twenty one year old Gavin Malin, a midfielder who has been signed on an amateur form until the New Year, also got the chance to impress the watching management team.
The final score line was 4 – 1 in the ‘Loons’ favour, this after the visitors had taken an early lead.
The match was also a great boost for the rejuvenated Strathmore Park outfit in their preparations for a Scottish Junior Cup replay at home to Cumbernauld United.
