3G pitch beats the weather

While dozens of games throughout Scotland failed to beat the wintry conditions on Saturday, including quite a few on non grass surfaces, Station Park was able to host the Forfar West End v Cumbernauld United Emirates Scottish Junior cup tie with underfoot conditions rated excellent by all concerned.
Sadly West End’s enterprise in moving the game from the frozen Strathmore Park was not rewarded with a victory the visitors running out 4-1 winners in a keenly fought contest.
Despite temperatures which hovered around freezing point a crowd of just under 200 turned up for the game, a figure that delighted officials of both sides.
On the Forfar Athletic front, following the postponement of their scheduled fixture at Coatbridge, the players took part in a two hour lunch time training session at Station Park on Saturday while a friendly has been arranged against Tayport Juniors on Tuesday night to keep the squad in trim for Saturday’s much anticipated local derby against Arbroath.
