Forfar Athletic v Ayr United - Match Preview
[Friday, 11 January 2013 10:54]
The ‘Loons’ go into tomorrow’s home fixture against Ayr United still looking for their first points of 2013, following defeats from Brechin City and Stenhousemuir.
However they will take heart from the fact that they have already triumphed twice over tomorrow’s opponents this term. A late counter from Martyn Fotheringham sealed a 3-2 win for the visitors at Somerset Park in August, goals from Willie Robertson and Charlie King clinching a 2-0 Scottish Cup win at Station Park six weeks back.
The ‘Honest Men’ go into the game on the back of a 1-0 success down at Stranraer last Saturday and currently sit five points behind Dick Campbell’s men in the league table.
Dick has virtually a full pool of players to choose from with negotiations at an advanced stage to try and extend Dale Hilson’s temporary transfer which was due to end after Saturday’s game till the end of the season.
Remarkably due to the away cup tie on February 2nd, this is Forfar’s last scheduled home fixture for five weeks, this making the securing of three points before the team head off on their travels in the league to Dumfries, Arbroath and Methil all the more important.
Tomorrow’s fixture is sponsored by J&E Shepherd and the referee is the experienced Gary Hilland.
