Queen of the South v Forfar Athletic - Match Preview
[Friday, 18 January 2013 10:23]
Queens officials are this morning making optimistic noises with regard to tomorrow’s match at Palmerston going ahead. The playing surface at the Dumfries ground has been covered for over a week and at present no inspection is planned.
The ‘Loons’ will travel south in good heart following their win over Ayr United last Saturday which consolidated their position in the play-off places. They are however an astonishing 24 points behind the home side who are quite simply it would appear running away with the league title. They have lost only once in the league this season and are at present 17 points clear of second placed Alloa.
On the opening day of the season Queens won 2-0 against Dick Campbell’s men at Palmerston, before recording a 5-1 success over a vastly understrength home side at Station Park in November.
The Forfar boss has a full pool. Keith Gibson apart to choose from, his squad benefiting from a run out in midweek in perfect underfoot conditions at Station Park against Lochore Welfare in a friendly fixture.
In all probability the ‘Loons’ starting eleven will differ little from last week’s line-up.
The Palmerston Park clash will be refereed by Premier League official Brian Colvin.
