Ayr United v Forfar Athletic - Match Preview
[Friday, 22 February 2013 10:02]
The ‘Loons’ will travel to Somerset Park tomorrow with three wins ‘under their belts’ this season against the ‘Honest Men’, two in the league and of course a December cup tie success at Station Park.
There is little doubt however that Mark Roberts has strengthened his squad considerably since the turn of the year and Ayr are still reckoned by many to be in with a fair shout of a play-off spot.
Dick Campbell and his players will be keen to put last week’s demise to Alloa which came courtesy of a last minute counter by the ‘Wasps’ behind them especially prior to home fixtures next week against Albion Rovers and Stranraer.
The management team again have a near full squad to choose from with the only long term absentee Keith Gibson and Odmar Faeroe on international duty absentees.
Those who did not make the starting line up last week got a run out in a midweek friendly against Cowdenbeath at Station Park on Tuesday night which the home side won 3-1.
News from Ayr this morning is that an inspection may be required on Saturday morning as a section of the Somerset Park is struggling to thaw following a few nights this week on the west coast when the temperature has dipped below freezing. As ever we will endeavour to keep you up to date on this website.
The referee for the match is the vastly experienced Iain Brines.
