Forfar Athletic v Albion Rovers - Match Preview
[Monday, 25 February 2013 16:33]
Forfar Athletic go into the first of two vital home league games tomorrow night on the back of a playing record since the turn of the year of only two wins from nine outings.
There is little doubt that Manager Dick Campbell and his staff will leave the squad in no doubt that six points will require to be their sole aim from the visits of Albion Rovers and Stranraer over the course of four days.
The Coatbridge side make the midweek journey north with a league record of six defeats from six outings in 2013, that run seeing them now anchored at the foot of the second division table, twelve points adrift of Stranraer.
The ‘Loons’ have secured all six points from the two previous jousts between the sides this term, a 4-2 home win in late September being followed by an odd goal in five success in December at Cliftonhill.
What was a pretty dire day at Somerset Park on Saturday past was made worse for the official party, the team coach eventually leaving Ayr just after 7 pm after drug testing formalalties imposed on both teams on the day were completed.
Michael Dunlop is a doubt for Rovers visit after his first half injury on Saturday and Dick may well decide to freshen up the side. However although disappointed with the loss of all three points to the ‘Honest Men,’ he was nevertheless relatively happy with his side’s second half efforts to retrieve the situation.
Youth team keeper Ross Salmon will again be on stand by for a spot on the bench if Derek Soutar’s shoulder injury is still playing up.
The kick-off tomorrow night is 7.30 pm with reduced admission prices of £10 for adults, £5 for senior citizens.
Under 16’s will be admitted FREE.
The match referee is second season Grade One official Paul Robertson.
