Forfar Athletic v Stranraer - Match Preview
[Friday, 01 March 2013 09:48]
The home side will hope to build on Tuesday night’s win over Albion Rovers when Stranraer pay their second visit of the season to Station Park tomorrow afternoon.
The Stair Park outfit will however travel north in good heart following an excellent February which saw them draw level with East fife in second bottom spot in the league table. This followed home wins over the Methill outfit and Arbroath, followed up by a 1-1 draw with Stenhousemuir last week. Their goal scorer against the ‘Warriors’ was former Station Park striker Darren Gribben who signed for the Wigtownshire outfit after his release in late January by Arbroath.
Both games between the sides this term to date have been high scoring affairs. Dick Campbell’s side triumphed 4-0 at Station Park back in August, while Stranraer eased to a 4-1 win on home soil in late October, arguably one of Forfar’s worst performances of the season.
Both teams will be minus a player through suspension on Saturday. Danny Denholm sits out the game following his red card on Tuesday, while visiting keeper David Mitchell misses out with Colin Stewart likely to be his deputy. Michael Dunlop remains a major doubt for the home side, while a couple of other players were on the treatment table on Thursday night with niggling injuries.
Match sponsor on Saturday is Scott Murdie while the match will be refereed by first season Grade One official Don Robertson who will be making his Station Park debut.
