Brechin City v Forfar Athletic - Match Preview
[Friday, 08 March 2013 09:50]
Brechin City officials have had their prayer mats out all week in the hope that their covers assisted by the weather would allow them to get Glebe Park playable for what be only their third home game of the calendar year with the ‘Loons’ due to come calling tomorrow. The heavy overnight rain which is continuing this morning will not be ‘what the doctor ordered’ but we will all live in hope over the next 24 hours.
City have gone on a remarkable run since the arrival of Ray McKinnon as Manager with eleven wins and three draws in their last fifteen league outings. Those eleven wins have included two 4-1 victories over the ‘Loons’, the last at Station Park on January 2nd. This after Forfar had triumphed 1-0 at home to the Glebe Park outfit back in September in the dying embers of Jim Weir’s rein.
Dick Campbell’s side will make the trip to Brechin in good heart themselves following convincing back to back home victories over Albion Rovers and Stranraer which saw them move three points clear of Arbroath in the fight for the vital last play-off spot.
Keith Gibson and Derek Soutar apart the rest of the squad took part in a full training session at Station Park last night, although Michael Bolochoweckyj will miss out due to his two match ban following his harsh sending off last Saturday. Danny Denholm returns after serving a one match ban and Odmar Faeroe will come into the reckoning for a back four slot.
Hopefully a large support will make the 12 mile trip up the road to Brechin to back Mark McCulloch and his colleagues in what should be an intriguing ninety minutes.
The match will be refereed by experienced Edinburgh based whistler Mike Tumilty who also handled the Station Park clash between the sides ten weeks back.
