Forfar Athletic v Stenhousemuir - Match Preview
[Friday, 15 March 2013 09:23]
The ‘Loons’ will go into tomorrow’s home fixture with the ‘Warriors’ having had a week’s rest on the playing front following the mid morning postponement of their scheduled match at Glebe Park last Saturday. They have not however been resting up, a hastily arranged training session last Saturday afternoon being followed by the normal two midweek stints in preparation for what is a vital game in the context of play-off qualification, no matter what system the powers that be come up by the end of the season ‘with luck.’
The Ochilview outfit currently sit three points behind Dick Campbell’s men with the Station Park side having played a game less.
The home side have won two of the three jousts with Martyn Corrigan’s side this campaign. A comprehensive 4-0 win away win in early September was followed up by a slightly fortuitous 3-2 Station Park success in November. At Ochilview in early January it was the home side who triumphed 2-0 with quite frankly on the day the ‘Loons’ not at the races.
While Forfar were inactive last week, Stenhousemuir were sharing the spoils in a local derby with Alloa, which ever so slightly helped erase the memory of a midweek odd goal in seven defeat at bottom of the table Albion Rovers.
The visitors main goal threat comes from John Gemmill who has netted twelve times so far this term.
The home side go into the game on the back of home successes over Albion Rovers and Stranraer and they will be hoping to continue to entertain the Station Park faithful with play of similar attack minded vintage. They will again be minus the injured due of Derek Soutar and Keith Gibson as well as the suspended Michael Bolochoweckyj.
Odmar Faeroe could well be Michael’s replacement prior to heading off to Vienna on Monday with his Faroese colleagues to prepare for a World Cup tie next Friday which will rule him out the Albion rovers game on the 23rd.
Tomorrow’s game sponsored by Avenue (Scotland) Ltd is due to be refereed by third season Grade One official Des Roache who took charge of the ‘Loons’ fixture at Gayfield in September.
