Brechin City v Forfar Athletic - Match Preview
[Monday, 08 April 2013 13:37]
The ‘Loons’ head up to Glebe Park on Tuesday night to tackle Ray McKinnon’s outfit in good heart following their victories last week over Albion Rovers and East Fife, the latter success a fair degree more conclusive than the 3-2 score line suggested.
Dick Campbell will have the same depth of pool to pick from for the midweek joust and it is unlikely that he will make many changes to his starting line-up.
The match is the start of a three game run for the Station Park men that sees them ‘lock horns’ with the top three teams in the league culminating in the visit of league and cup double winners Queen of the South to Station Park on Saturday week.
City who have won the last two clashes between the sides to the ‘tune’ of 4-1, following a 1-0 success by the Athies in the first encounter of the season have stuttered just a little over a hectic past fortnight. However, one does have to take into account that two of the three defeats that they have endured have been against Queens, the first of those a 6-0 defeat at Station Park which saw the ‘Doonhamers’ clinch the title. Amazingly only six days later Brechin went on to record a 6-0 success over East Fife at the Glebe, before losing by the odd goal in five down at Strarnaer on Saturday past.
Tuesday’s game which has a 7.45 pm kick-off will be refereed by Ayrshire based official Des Roache who handled Forfar’s home game with Stenhousemuir only three weeks back.
